Ale Bowl
Ale Bowls are drinking vessels. Traditionally, they
were used on special ceremonial occasions such as
weddings, baptisms and funerals or perhaps on Christmas
or New Year's. A fancy ale bowl was a status symbol for
the larger rural land owners in Norway.
An ale bowl can take on a wide variety of shapes and
forms limited only by the imagination. Philip and Else
have studied these ornate drinking vessels in museum
colections in Norway and America.
The wide variety of forms and decor truly fascinate
them. To date we have made several dozen ale bowls and
rarely are two alike. They can be made to order and
finished with a natural stain or painted.
These ale bowls are included in distinguished
collections in the United States as well as in other
countries.
